A very strange but enjoyable movie! If you need everything to happen straight away this probably isn't the movie for you, it takes a while to get going.

Strange yes, but very well done. Very dark as the title suggests. It does take a while to really get into it. Once you get what is going on it is a most enjoyable film. I have seen it 3 times and every time I watch it I see something that I missed last time.

The movie is perfect. This script is bizarre and very gory. I definitely prefer the movie - that's what the rating's for.

If the word "surrealism"can be applied it is to this film. This is an extremely mindbending premise that has striking film noir cinematography and set design within the sci-fi genre. For me this is Alex Proyas most successful film. More successful than "I, ROBOT", probably because it is a more personal film for the director. The subtext to the film can come straight out the paranoid sci-fi films of the 50's, with the threat of imminent communist brainwashing and mind control. It is a pity this director hasn't made more films.

This film has a very different and unique style of cinematography, editing, and fast pacing of scenes, and the soundtrack music plays pretty much non-stop through the movie. This movie actually feels like it is a comic book on screen - a dark comic book, but one just the same. None of these comments are to detract from this film, it is a very unique and different type of movie, like some kind of odd dream. An interesting and unique sci fi motion picture.

I've never seen such a multi-layered and profound movie like Dark City. I think Alex Proyas created a masterwork that is so strange but beautiful. This movie has revolutionized storytelling for me.

This is different than how I remember the movie. I suppose the script was severely rewritten for the movie. I like the movie better, to be honest. The ending is the total opposite of this ending.

This is an early draft. There are at least two later drafts of this movie available online. Reading them is a fascinating exercise in script development. The finished movie, as noted, is surreal and deeply thoughtful. This draft is disjointed and confused. Some of the ideas are there, but they're not well developed. The next draft is a quantum leap above this one. My rating is for the movie, not the draft.
