This is one of the best scripts ever made. If you like it read the book by Mario Puzo.

Coppola is the most important American filmmaker. The Godfather is a masterpiece that matches Citizen Kane.

The best movie I have ever seen in my life! Even for girls this movie is a classic.

I was expecting a lot out of it after all the praise. It was good but I was disappointed.

Easily one of the geatest films ever made. Absolutely brilliant script with instantly quotable dialogue. From the opening monologue to the final conversation between Michael and Kay about the family business, the script is wonderful. See the movie and read the book!

You can't find anything like this.

I absolutely love this brilliant landmark piece of cinema. The Corleone family, despite being the Mafia is easy to root for. They love each other intensely, hate their enemies just as much, will fight to the death for each other. They're so easy to relate to. And I adore Sonny. Carlo got what he deserved!

Inspiring book and even more inspirational is Marlon Brando in his portrayal of "The Godfather".

Simply: Wonderful! I really enjoyed it. Veramente spettacolare.

This is the most impressive movie I've ever seen in my life.

It's no doubt a masterpeice. It's not just about crime gang war mafia action, it tells you about values, ethics, family values. It's like a bible for a movie lover. It's hard to believe that Brando and Al Pacino were not the favourites of the producers. Now one can't think of the film without them.

The best mob movie period.

Nobody can do a movie like this. Like a prayer the would end with Amen. Masterpiece Cinema.

This is one of the best movies in history. This movie offered the people something we could NOT refuse.

Kiester (10 out of 10 )
This film is, without a doubt, one of the best films I have ever seen in my lifetime. The unique attribute this film has is the fact that this is no ordinary gangster film with tons of violence. It is much, much more. It is a story of family values, of love, suspense, betrayal and kindness. This is one film that will stay in my collection until the day I die.

The Godfather is one of the best gangster movies of the 20th century and the best movies of Marlon Brando and Al Pacino.

Khara (5 out of 10 )
Okay, I'm sure this is an early draft, or there was some improvisation during shooting, or something, but does anyone else see how off this script is from the movie?! I wish it was easier to find a script that actually says what gets said in the movie, even if the movie did stray from what the script originally called for; more of a transcript of the movie, I guess! Still, best movie of all time.

A rather mediocre film. I didn't dislike it, but it's nowhere near the best film of all time, people making something out of nothing.

debopratim (10 out of 10 )
This is the best mob or gangster movie ever made. It is useless to see the movie first without reading the novel. The idea of godfather being a magnum opus stems from the book and lends coherence to the script, which is naturally much more compact and less inclusive. The movie has got nothing to do with values, morals or love, as all the main characters violate every moral code in this movie, including promiscuity, betrayal, murder, treachery; lying being the least of it. The movie is about how apparently upright, caring and honest people can indulge in vices like murder without showing any remorse whatsoever, and later on start enjoying the very thing that they once hated. Makes it pretty hard to assign complete goodness or evil to any character in particular. The action scenes are piece of art, and unparalleled even in today's movies in terms of dramatization and execution. These scenes have been copied in thousands of movies in hundreds of languages. Right from the beheading of Khartoum to the strangulation of rizzi, every scene is grotesquely artistic in its depiction; masterclass. Coppolla taught them to do it, period. The script works because of Mario Puzo, whose involvement in the second part too managed to draw rave reviews. You are right Khara, this is not the final script, maybe the next draft was. I don't think it would be fair to judge the script and the movie without reading the book first; because even though you don't see them, these people are going through the events as depicted in the book.

Anybody who says this is mediocre hasn't watched it. One of the greatest movies ever. Don't expect it to play like Iron Man. This is for people who know lobster tails are better than fish sticks. Watch it if you are over 20.

The godfather was awesome, it was intense with a lot of cool moments, the best characters are mikey and don vito, and my favorite scene is the toll booth shootout, that scene was awesome.

I have watched all 3 parts at least 10 times. I don't think the final dialogues follow this script word-by-word. Perhaps this is only a draft version before the final. But great movie, though.
