I merely skimmed through the script, but from what I read I think what really made the movie great was the director (Gary Marshall) and the main cast. The script could have just as easily been translated into a cheesy love flick. The movie is light entertainment and one of the most enjoyable love comedies that there are. What's really brilliant though is that the filmmakers made it appear a family movie that is so romantic when the story really is about a guy "renting" a woman for a week for physical purposes. Quite possibly my favorite Rom-Com. Very original writing and wonderful storyline.
