I merely skimmed through the script, but from what I read I think what really made the movie great was the director (Gary Marshall) and the main cast. The script could have just as easily been translated into a cheesy love flick. The movie is light entertainment and one of the most enjoyable love comedies that there are. What's really brilliant though is that the filmmakers made it appear a family movie that is so romantic when the story really is about a guy "renting" a woman for a week for physical purposes. I would have to rate this film as one of my favorite top 10. Anytime I am surfing on TV and I see this movie I watch it. I don't care what part is playing.
